Best Early Season Arkansas Raft Run?

Need to dial in the new raft before a MF trip in July and am looking at the Arkansas. Have duckied Browns, but that's it. Looks like Stone Bridge above Salida all the way down to Parkdale would be fair game. Does anyone have a suggestion for a day trip that is fairly mellow?

If your trying to avoid class III, then anything in that stretch is good to go. It obviously depends how many miles to want to do. The fishing is great right now.The Rincon area is a neat spot. Salida east to Vallie bridge would make for long but fun day of dialing out your rig. Maybe Big Bend to Rincon (also long day). A few rapids in there but nothing too significant. Cut down the mileage to whatever you feel comfortable with. Big Bend to Salida East would be the most mellow of the options.

Well, there is plenty of water to raft everything from Granite to Canon City.... There are s couple 3's in the stretch you mentioned. Most notable are Tincup, Cottonwood and Maytag, but those are spread over like 30-40 miles. If you just want a float I would suggest Big Bend to Salida East, or Rincon. Milk Run would be another option...

Thanks for the replies. We'll be running a new 14' SB raft and a 16' cat.
