I have the new Downstream Edge website up and running and the current schedule up.
I would like to start by inviting everyone to our pre season kickoff party at the Golden Whitewater park at 1:00pm on April 10th.
This year we have a great lineup of our popular river rescue courses all around Colorado. We have some new courses this year as well.
Please visit the website to check it all out and sign up for courses: http://www.downstreamedge.com
Level 1: Basic river safety is a one day class for beginner and intermediate paddlers.
Level 2: Advanced Swiftwater rescue is the classic DSE class for class 3 and 4 boaters. 2-day
Level 3: River Rescue for the Expert Kayaker is an intense and challenging swiftwater rescue class for class 5 kayakers and aspiring class 5 boaters. 2-day
Level 4: Wilderness Whitewater Rescue and First aid is a brand new and unique class designed for aspiring wilderness kayakers. This class focuses on difficult rescue situations that involve injuries, hypothermia, etc. Scenarios will often require first aid and evacuation. Lead instructor for this course will be Zach Springer who is a Wilderness First Responder, Denali Search and rescue tech, Crested Butte ski patroller, and expedition paddler. Tommy Hilleke and myself will be teaching with Zach on this course as well.
Rafting SWR: We also are offering rafter specific classes.
Custom SWR: As always, if you want to set up a class for your friends or club on your own dates and terms, please let us know and we will accommodate you.
EVENING SKILLS SERIES
Another new course area we will be offering this summer are local evening skills clinics. We have an Evening Beginner Series, Evening Freestyle Series, and Evening Creeking series. Each series is three consecutive wednesday evenings from 6-8pm at a local park or run. These series are a great opportunity for you to advance your skills this summer with professional kayak instructors. Having time in between each lesson really maximizes your improvement over the course of the series. You will notice that you get a lot better in this type of environment than if you were to take a 6 hour class in one day.
