Gore race safety
I will be co-ordinating the safety for the Gore race this weekend.
I'd like to explain a few points that arise every race. Firstly, we are there for safety of the racers, and not for private boaters who decide that this is the time to run Gore Canyon, because there is "safety". Secondly, to the racers, we cannot physically cover every yard of the river. Over many seasons of commercial trips on Gore, we have learned which spots cause more trouble, and we will attempt to have coverage in those areas. However, running race lines usually means there are incidents at other places. With this in mind, all racers need to self rescue. The race safety is a last resort, that may not be where you have erred.
If you can help with race safety please contact Timberline Tours as extra help on race day is always appreciated.
