Kayaking with little kids
We ventured out on our first river run with our two year old last weekend. We just did the mellow town/tuber stretch. I paddled my big boat with the little girl in front of me without a skirt. We've done some flat water with her and she was ready for the transition. She sits great in the boat, but we took on some water in the small waves we went through. Not a huge deal, but kind of a pain.
Does anyone else paddle this way with their little ones? Is there a preferred way to make a skirt work? I'm pregnant, so I thought about just getting a skirt with a huge tunnel for the next couple of months and have us both fit in it. I think that would cut down on most of the water coming in. Or cutting a small slit for her to sit in. Or I could test my sewing skills to try a double tunnel option. Thoughts or suggestions?
