Poll: editing your own words

well buzzards do you like not being able to take back what you said after only 10 minutes or would you like to have control over your own words? make your voice heard.

Own your words and think before you post. People having the ability to go back and change their posts would ultimately make things incredibly confusing when people post in reply and then the original poster realizes how stupid he looks and goes back and changes his post.

I am in favor of about 30 minutes - enough time to catch grammatical errors or add an additional thought, but short enough that threads don't get edited for content or stop making sense due to massively changed or deleted posts. IMHO.

i think 10 minutes is fine. is that how long you have always had to edit, or did things change when the format changed last month? i edited a couple posts in the past for grammatical errors that i caught immediately after i posted, but have never felt the need to go back and edit anything later on. you should think about what you say before you put it out there.

speaking of editing, one thing i just realized is how you can quote someone else and "edit" what they said. if someone else reading the thread were not paying close attention, they might think that the quote was what the person really said in the beginning. especially if it is several pages away from the original post.

looks kind of official when it is in that little box. is there any way to show that someone "edited" someone else's words when they quote them?
