Buzz,
is it possible to only allow actual whitewater/skiing topics show up in the most recent topics list?

I am getting discouraged with all the political banter and far off topics cloging the good whitewater and ski info that gets posted here.

On that note, I was almost ready to give up the buzz because of the political banter and spiteful responses (of which i have been sucked into). However, i posted a request for info on the san juan today and received great responses. It was more than just refreshing to get solid sunbstantive responses.

That would be awesome, Mut. I pretty much only use the "recent topics" list, and it sucks to have to sort through all that political stuff to find the recent on-topic posts. I'm afraid most of the other buzzards are more interested in the political chatter, so we might be outnumbered... I considered ditching the Buzz myself, but it does still remain a good resource, like you said.

I think that there is a problem that on-topic posts get bumped off the recent list from the OT policical stuff that people often don't get to see the WW and Snow posts in time to comment or answer questions. Just my $.02.

I agree. We'll see what we can do.

Yes, we will be able to do this. I will post an update next week on the conversion (long overdue but should be worth it).

Or you could just click on the boaters or snowriders forum and quit making a big deal out of nothing. Jesus.

I tooalways use "view most recent posts".

The ot stuff is a little lame, but no big deal to me.

What would help me is a better way to keep track of "new" stuff that I hadn't had a chane to look over. If I go on for just a minute and only read a few out of 20 new topics, the others thaqt I did not get to are then not new the next time I click view recent, and only a few come up.

No big deal, but maybe there's a way to enhance that.

Last night and this morning's porn spammers are really getting after it. How can we keep that from snowballing?

Hey Dave,

We're trying to keep the spam thing under control...each of us are deleting or moving at least 20 porn spammers a day and the pornado is just not letting up. It's been happening on powderbuzz quite a lot lately too. Hope it settles down, cause it's driving us all crazy! The new software should have more controls for that kind of activity, and Andy is working on getting it in place pretty soon here...definitely before the snow melts.
