I would say keep things together. I am learning tons of stuff I never would even think to ask. One thing I would like to know, as a beginning kayaker hoping to someday weasel my way on a multi day trip, this crap box you talk about. Is it carried by the rafter most likely not to flip or is it sealed very tight? Also as a kayaker that spends too much time upside down, where do I want to position myself with regards to said raft? If it flips and is not sealed well I guessing this is a nasty slick of water. If the raft flipped most likely I will be upside down too. If in this slick do I try and roll only to window shade a couple of times, do I just start swimming deep and away or do I just reflect of my life and say "well it's been a good run"?
