how the hell do i get rid of "imported" in front of my user name?

ever since i brought my old username into the new site, i have "imported" in front of my user name - i.e. "imported_the_dude". how the hell do i get rid of this aside from re-registering? i tried this but can't since my email address is also being used by the old username.

yeah it was funny that i couldn't figure out how to changet it myself. felt a little inept. thanks
