Dirtbikes and Kayaks

I have a YZ250F and boat, I've thought about running shuttle with my dirt bike when I boat alone, I'm limited now by how far I can run back to the put-in. The gunnison gorge would be a good place to combine boating with riding.

Don't forget to vote on this thing... Frenchy and I have been talking seriously about whether to add a dirt bike forum and it would be cool to get a good count as to how many actually would use it.

I for one, would love to have it all in one place. Figure out where the flow is, and then hop over to review stuff on certain trails in the area as well.

Fire it up!

dirt bikes and shuttles

I use a 225 dirt bike mounted on a trailer hitch rack behind my van as a shuttle set up. Works great! Use it when alone or on a trip with others but just want one vehicle, its great for running around when camped too and don't want to move the rig....not to mention just dirt biking for fun. Opens a lot of options up.

Honda CRF450R will be my next toy for sure. I've been dirtbikeless for far too long, but I do have a street bike that rips in the canyons. I might be moving out to San Diego within the next few weeks, and CA has banned 2 strokers, so CRF will be my best option. Not to mention the fact that it just blows every other dirtbike out of the water. It sucks that I might have to miss our runnoff this year, but at least I can pass the time driving 4 hours to the nearest river, or riding a dirtbike in Baja, or surfing, or just getting drunk at the pool looking at tan chicks in bikinis. I'm gonna miss it here for sure, but at least lane splitting is legal in CA.

I collect KDX 450's. (4 so far) They only made them in 82. I put a tag and insurance on it in the summer. Dirt bike shuttle all the way!!! I use it a lot when my girlfriend and I run the upper C or the Gunnison. It's a great way to both go in one vehicle. The Green below Flameing Gorge dam was perfect and a total blast. I've always wanted to use it for a Deso- Grey shuttle craft instead of the plane ride.

Repa...

My good buddy bought an 04 new and loves it. I ride the WR450 and found the KTM to be set up more for full moto cross as opposed to trail. Personally I trail ride way more, and for that reason like my WR way better. It's a bit heavier, but lugs really well when you need it to and isn't so hyper that it stalls when you least want it to.

If you like the BMX feel of the KTM, then go for it. The bike is great, and beyond the fact that parts aren't as readily available, you will be totally stoked on out-of-the-box performance.

Ruined part of ski season after breaking my ankle in November riding in the St. Anthony, Idaho sand dunes. Also have a Triumph sport touring bike--might have to bring that down to Colorado sometime for some canyon carving! Thumpertalk.com is a great site with some regional info & discussions.
