Anything that's a 650 dual sport is going to be WAY TOO HEAVY to ride single track. Sub-300 #'s is mandatory IMO. Sub-250 is ideal. Fire roads, street, etc. will be fantastic though. So you can't have everything. I had an XR250 for a while and it was a C- on the highway, but a B+ on trails. I rode a KLR 650 for a while at Christmas and it was a beast (in a BAD way, D+) off the pavement, but I'd give it an A- for the road. Plus it had panniers on it and that made it even worse.
Now I'm rocking a CRF450R with a lighting kit and a Rekluse kit (to help with stalling in technical stuff) and it rules off road. Probably 225 #'s dry weight and it wheelies in every gear. Course if you rode it on pavement there'd be a bread crumb trail of nobbies in the road behind you.
