Why the US has really gone broke

ZNet - Economic Disaster & Military Keynesianism

Who knows... maybe this guy is just a stupid cynic. Regardless, the information he provides makes me think he presents a pretty legitimate argument. See for yourself by reading the above article.

JEEZ,SHOULD HAVE HEEDED EISENHOWER[SP]

How much of that is exorbitant profit and kickbacks to politicians, not even legitimate costs even if it were justified?Remember Reagan's $100 dollar toilet seats,no heads ever rolled.

Time for us to scale back,Japan and Germany to take on a bigger share of international security responsibilities, but why should they if we dictate everything. This really disturbing

This is why Ron Paul made sense to me, at least on this topic. One of the first debates he said we simply cant afford to be in IRAQ. Its how I felt since day one but I thought we would put a tax on their oil exports to pay for our "liberating them from evil" but we didnt. Seriously, even cops get paid. If we are going to be the worlds cops then at least collect a payment. I know there are many political reasons that this sounds wrong but it's not like we are going to taint our reputation by taxing them. I think the entire world is against us invading in the first place.

the first problem is you can't tax somebody not covered by the constitution.

Actually i think the income tax is on a slippery slope even for americans. I know that there are issues with the taxing but couldnt it just be a protection tax like the mafia does? We make sure your oil gets to port but we charge you $10 per barrel to provide safe transport?

This is why at times I hate you, Marko. You take an article that has this in its first paragraph as the gospel truth:

Quote:
They failed even to address the problem of how to finance their schemes of imperialist wars and global domination.
"schemes of imperialist wars and global domination."

That's your version of journalistic integrity?

I'm too freakin hot to deal with the rest of the article. I'll be back when I'm on the clock at Honeywell, the corporate giant aimed at global domination, robbing the tax payer so I can sit on my ass all day and make Mountainbuzz posts. Thank god for the neocons...

Honeywell, they make great landmines and cluster bombs, right? Not that I can complain, my company has an aerospace division too.
The defense industry has a plant in every congressional district in the US (or most, I'll check on that)., how can our rep's argue with a major employer like that?

Don't hate the messenger...

Again, Helio, maybe this guy is just a stupid cynic.

BTW- Chalmers Johnson is NOT a journalist, so I don't think he is looking for journalistic integrity. I'm pretty sure his 50 some years of studying foreign policies and his meager little PHD in political science from Berekely doesn't mean a thing compared to your degree in... what it is again???

Please feel free to show us why this guy is just an academic fraud and why this article is false. I beg you! Please show us why your superior intellect is right and why this guy is just a moron.
