Dude.

My point is this:
The world is slipping back into yellow journalism. Anyone who uses the aforementioned quote in his lead-in paragraph is proudly displaying his partisanship and his contempt for people who don't agree with him. It's more of the "Fuck the other 49 percent" attitude.

There is a standard by which reasonable people conduct discussions, and it's an art that is being drowned out by the Keith Olberman's and Bill O'Reilly's of the world where Volume and kitsch counts more.

The problem with jackasses like the above "writer" is that they violate the rules that reasonable people expect people to use when having an intelligent discussion by calling fucking NAMES. That causes people to tune out. And getting people tuned back in is a huge piece of solving the problems we face.

The other problem is that for every jackass on the left with a partisan axe to grind, there's one on the right who can pull out statistics just as valid. And those statistics will cancel each other out ESPECIALLY when the two jackasses are calling each other Imperialist Warmongers and, I should copywrite this, "Treehugging Liberal Fags". I might make some royalties from future talk show hosts...

So reasonable people will only listen to people who come at them with a reasonable tone. My glib attempts at humor from our earlier conversations are an example. They belittle any meaningful points a speaker can make.

Ultimately, in a nation of 300 million that is more wealthy than any other nation in the scope of all human history, economics is not as simple as "Welfare, foodstamps, and medicaid rob from the middle class to give to the poor" or "The military industrial complex is happy to take fat-cat kickbacks from congress and kill your minority young men so they can never reproduce"

I really can pull out statistics that negate yours to reasonable people (among which I consider myself a member). I can then pull out decent writers who don't wear their partisanship like badges of honor and who can actually make a pursuasive argument.

Start filtering for vitriol in addition to message if you want to make a goddamn difference in this country.

Again, Helio, please tell us why this guy is a moron. Just because Chalmers doesn't feel the need to be "politically correct" doesn't mean it negates the message. Fuck being politically correct. I'm sorry you can't handle a message that doesn't come in a "proper" little package.

Read the article and tell us why this guys is a "jackass" and why his arguments are false.

HELIO,
You're a smart dude ,but you're letting foolish patriot pride cloud your thinking. You simply can;t accept critism of the US or capitalism,or accept the reality of our imperialism politically and economically[ again I invite you to study the history of Latin America] it is not a matter of oppinion. You are all to eager to accept ill founded scathing critisms of other counntries, very evident in your writings, and spew as much vitriol as anybody else here.Take off the red white and blue glasses and be Human for a friggin' minute.

Marko, haven't we agreed that we can't pursuade each other of anything? I never said the guy was a moron. I said he was an asshole.

And you saying I can't take the politically incorrect message belies the fact that when others ruffle your feathers you go off in a huff and say "Why do I even bother with you charletans... This is why I don't post on the Buzz..."

Me, on the other hand, I gave you an apology for untoward behavior (not that you've committed any here). Me, I challenge my preconceived notions. That makes me a stronger intellectual, and a more honest (classical) liberal. And in the long run, wiser.

Why did John Lennon say this:

Quote:
You say you'll change the constitution
Well you know
We all want to change your head
You tell me it's the institution
Well you know
You better free your mind instead
But if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao
You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow
Don't you know know it's gonna be alright
Pax (Americana)

Ok, Helio. So you think the author is an asshole and that he doesn't adhere to the "standard by which reasonable people conduct discussions". Great. Now, please tell us why the message that he is trying to spread is wrong. I didn't post this article to change your mind, or anybody else for that matter. I posted it because I think it is a message that needs to be heard. Whether the reader agrees or disagrees with the message is up to them. They can then post why they agree or disagree. I believe the only thing you contributed to the post is why you think this guy is an asshole and why you sometimes hate me. But, you conveniently skip addressing his message. So, again, please tell us why the message he is trying to spread is wrong.

As for the rest of your last post... good for you, buddy. Give yourself a pat on the back... you... honest... classical... liberal. In this particular thread, your stronger intellectual skills managed to name call instead of intellectually arguing a message presented. Instead of telling us why Chalmers Johnson is an asshole, because of his "unreasonable conduct", try telling us why he is wrong for calling the Bush administration imperialist-global domineering-warmongerers.

HELIO, i read that post again what an utter load of crap. You simply refuse to even entertain for the sake of arguement, any idea threatening to Your FALLACIOUS WORLDVIEW.To equate Olbermann;s well thought out articulate, fact based analysis to Bill Orielly' s[sp] reactionary hate speech about says it all. I notice you are AFRAID to engage in debate on US policy in Latin America, I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO KICK YOUR ASS UP AND DOWN THE BUZZ ON IT!!iI have compiled a list of coups wev;e orchestrated, dictators we have propped up and the atrocities they have committted, traced the financing and training of death/torture squads to the US,IT HAS HAPPENED AS RECENTLY AS 2002.You can start with google GEN. Smedely Butler quotes,a marine for 33 years Butler came clean,in one quote alone reveals our racketeering in 6 different countries.I suppose you'll just swiftboat him.
