It's about 95% true. I'm not sure whether Courtney had a Cadillac or some other signifying sort of ride, like a Lincoln Continental. Eventually, Mick got 86ed from The Cowboy and started sleeping in a shed in the alley behind the Corral Bar.
The Corral Bar in Pinedale used to have some of Mickey's wild drawings on the west wall in the front. Not sure if they're still there. He used to have his pension check sent to the bar. They'd deduct his beer and an occasional burger. One month he had a deficit and did some drawings to pay off his balance.
Mickey worked on a "suicide squad" in the mines in Montana (don't know what that is) and also cowboyed and caught wild horses in the Red Desert and the upper Green River valley. Lots of good tales about him, and Dean as well. Dean broke horses for various local outfits, and used to come into the bar when he needed help to catch colts. He'd sneak up behind you and hook an arm around your neck and rasp: "Wanna get kicked, stepped on, or killed?"
Pretty hard to resist.
