My music collection is waaay overdue for an update. I realized the other day how far behind I am when I added Fatboy Slim and old-school MF Doom to my ipod...and got excited about it.
So what y'all are listening to? I'm in serious need of some new music, and I pretty much like it all. Techno, hip hop, reggae, country-punk, bluegrass...whatever. And although I like checking out the streaming audio sites, I will be without an internet connection over the winter and not able to update the ipod, so I'm looking for stuff I can access and load up now. Podcasts are good, though...I can save up some podcasts for later.
Here are some bands you might like... Kings of Leon, Panic! at the Disco, the Faint, Deathcab for cutie (the new album kicks ass), Drive-by Truckers, Ambulance LTD, Beck (the new album also kicks ass), Easy Dub All Stars (RadioDread or Dub side of the moon), The Good the bad and the queen (if you like the Gorillaz), Menomena, Matisyahu, and the Raconteurs (Jack White's band).

I'll second DeathCab and Driveby Truckers. My new favorite Bluegrass band is Oakhurst. Try Jay Nash for a river-folk sound and the 22-20's for some yet undiscovered rock (kind of a Doors meets Zep sound).

hows the shoulder? i hear brittanys got some new stuff, check it out
Ha! I'll be sure to check it out. Shoulder's pretty OK. Healed up from the surgery and flexible and all that, but I messed up rehabbing and gave myself tendinitis pretty bad. So, in the end, I've been out...another lesson learned the hard way. I hope to be working through it all soon.

2nd for moe. i've downloaded a few of their live shows from archive.org and also have a couple volumes of their "warts and all" series. good shite.
endless boundaries and nugscast podcasts are both good.
jackstraw, flat and scruggs, ralph stanley are all good for bluegrass.
de la soul, michael franti, etc.
and if you can find a way to get the whole stream onto your ipod, kexp out of seattle does a great world music stream on saturday mornings from 9-12. it's really good.
and of course there's the dead. archive has a whole section devoted to them.
