I consider waterboarding nothing worse than what I do when I jump out of my raft and into a kayak. During the swims I take, since i never learned to roll, I'd tell anyone anything to get spit out. I guess dogs and possible drownings are much more upsetting to your average camel jockey since they have experience with neither.

There was another thread on this topic 1-2 years ago where someone asked if waterboarding is really that bad? Is it really different from having a little inverted scare on the river?

The answer was a clear yes. Waterboarding is forcing water down someone's throat causing all kinds of reflexes. People have bad emotional scars from it. The reason waterboarding is a popular torture technique is that it is as bad as other forms of toture but it doesn't leave any obvious physical marks, just emotional ones.

That has to be the dumbest comparison ever. Big difference in-between a situation you put yourself in, and being tied down and having it forced on you.

Next time you flip, have someone hold your head under until you start to choke, then instead of grabbing a quick breath, they will keep holding your head down until your lungs fill with water. Then when you are near death, you can be let up to puke your guts out and before you can recover, do it again. Then, and only then you will have a fair comparison.
