The thing that I don't like about Trout_bobber is that he simplifies other people's views and then expresses it in an angry, mocking manner.

I just got finished writing this up on the essay thread, then noticed the new one. For the record, I think it would be a sad step for the Buzz to have to ban anyone, but it is possible for one poster to virtually control the 'flow' of a Forum by posting repeatedly just to have his voice cycle up to the top of every forum. I don't quite think that Bobber has taken it to that point yet, but he shows less restraint that anyone else here. I would be more comfortable with a poll to 'ask him to leave' rather than 'ban'.

Nonetheless, here's my take on Bobber.

Here's one of his first posts:

Politics? take it over to boatertalk.

Wanna talk boating? keep it here and real on the Buzz
The above quote would be funny if TB hadn't grown so incredibly tiresome.

I'm trying to envision the type of person that only posts on a regional boating in an effort to tick people off...no real contribution to the Forum; and with what seems no connection with either 1)Colorado or 2) kayaking.

Seriously- I know you're having "fun" (sad in itself), but you're not engaging this community in any way that's either appreciated or is even remotely 'in the spirit' of a kayaking forum. Even though this is the "off-topic" space, you can't even find anything to contribute other than adolescent taunting (usually) or links to pseudo-'news' sites that are solely intended to get a rise out of people.

I would imagine that you probably spend the other 60% of your workday posting on Progressive political sites with the same intent for pissing folks off. Stick to those. The fact that you feel the need to hijack nearly every thread shows that you clearly don't have enough work to do at your job (if you do indeed work- which I truly doubt). Go find something to do.

Being proud of being a troll (and only a troll) isn't something to hang your hat on. It's certainly easy to see why Eric bounced you off BT. Other conservative members of the Buzz at least have something to contribute with regards to paddling in addition to their political views; the best I can tell your only intent is to see who you can get angry, rather than engage in any debate.

This is the last time I'll post in response to anything you've said. I'm certain that you realize that you're a sad little person with no real power in this world other that the hollow satisfaction you get out of aggravating folks that actually have passion in the hearts with regards to paddling AND political, societal or environmental issues.

If you feel the need to validate this assessment, all you need to do is express your glee that you got me to respond to one of your incessant, pointless posts. I'm quite certain you will.

Yea, the guy doesn't seem to have any connection to the Rocky Mountans or to kayaking.

His comments are just flippant. He's just treating this forum as a place to have fun by posting angry anonomous comments. Punt.

Is that a very nice thing to say to a National Park Volunteer and AW member? Talk about personal attacks, that's right, you are on the left, so you are smarter and morally superior to me. Sorry, I forget these things.

How long did it take you to write your devatating prose? You question what I do all day and you post the most long winded boring stuff I have ever seen.

You enjoy spouting your great intellect to much to give it up, methinks

Out of the mainstream true, but I don't float the mainstream. Took that from the motto of Sweetwater Brewing Co. here in Atlanta. One of their brews tastes lots like Fat Tire. You are just mad b/c I posted a Chuck Norris essay link and you found out Chuck is a Christian Conservative.

It is stupid to ban someone.

I am politically unaffiliated, but I think I tend to have more conservative views. I recognize that most people on here have liberal views, so I just decide to stay out of the political discussions, mostly because I hate arguing about politics, but also because since my views aren't that popular, maybe people would hold it against me, or try to make personal attacks. I think the personal attacks go both ways on here, but the rebublican types have an easy time stirring things up because most people are somewhat liberal. Basically it looks like to me, it is ok to make stupid attacks, or declare that everyone who disagrees with you is wrong....so long as what you say goes along with the status quo with the other buzzards.

I personally think that it is all very childish and short sighted the way people squabble on here about their political views, who is right and wrong (or right and left). One of the things I thought I used to like about boating is that there are all different types, but most people are still cool to each other. You may have noticed that I used to be an active member in this community. I have several hundred posts, but only have probably 4 or 5 posts in the past 8 or 9 months. This is because the Buzz has become an environment of hostility and political head-butting, and less about boating, mountains, sports, and living the dream; the stuff I come to the buzz for.

I haven't quit checking the Buzz, because it is a good resource, but I'm at the point where I have pretty much quit participating.

If I wanted to hear why democrats are stupid, or why Bush sucks, I would go to a political forum or watch TV. It seems like there are much more intersting things for a bunch of kayakers, raft guides, ski bums, and river rats to talk about than all this stupid bullshit.

If the Buzz doesn't start sucking less, I'm out of here, and I think you'll start to see some of the other people who used to be valuable contributers to the actual on-topic community jump ship soon too.

If any of you agree with me, I have two requests. One is that if someone's views are different, you take it as face value and move on. Second is if any of you are interested in rejuvinating the Buzz, take some of this energy and put it towards something useful on here.

Is anyone with me on this?

Actually the reason why we split into multiple forums is for this exact reason. WL, you should just look at the Boaters Forum and stay out of the eddy. Hopefully, this will help with your continued enjoyment of the buzz.

I disagree with your views on most things, but I certainly respect your right to have them. Frankly I ignore almost all your comments, as I can't tell if your saying things to stir pot or you honestely believe some of things you write; if it's latter, you seem to be beyond debate and reason; so why reply or even pay attention in either case. Ostensibly, your opinions rely on passion, beliefs and feelings - rather than reason, intellect, history, etc.

Wow that describes Bush and the religous right too. Thankfully, America has finally awoken to the fact that dialogue with God and prayer is not the best way govern. Theocracies were rejected by Western society along time ago - for good reason.

P.S.
Do you know the owners of Sweetwater? They are friends of mine from Boulder. Haven't spoken to them in a long time.
