Today's GOOD NEWS!

Apparently the demand for dumbassery is tanking. Focus on the Family, Colorado Springs' once-fabled growth industry, is laying off 200 employees. The cutbacks come on top of an announcement in October that the Taliban-esque organization would lay off or reassign 46 employees next year.

"Intolerance and the melding of church/state just don't have the same appeal to donors that they had during our heyday, the Bush Era," said an unnamed Focus spokesman. "It seems that Americans are choosing hope over our message of fear."

Giving also has to be down, which would seem to be an equal part of the reason for their cutbacks.

By the waterside I will lay my head.

you know... I think they would serve everyone much better if they did what their name suggests: "Focus on the Family" I have read and used their counseling material and its not so bad in a "take what you like and leave the rest" kind of way.

Maybe they need a spin off organization where they focus on politics.

I know the arguement could be made that they do focus on the family by having a voice in politics but that is a stretch.

The quote was funny... I was unable to find the reference ... Ohh its unnamed maybe that was Carl Rove... He is on their payroll right?

Rove? I can neither confirm nor deny that he was the "source."

Years ago (early '90s) I recall hearing Dobson's show on one of our Durango radio stations. While I didn't agree with some of what he had to say, it struck me as pretty benign stuff that was actually focused on the family. He offered up some down-to-earth, decent advice to folks. This, of course, was before Dobson decided to become a political kingmaker.
