This should piss you off worse than the transgendered issue

Even the most dedicated River Rat will recall that after the 2008 housing melt down the Justice Department stirred itself and proceeded to hold the banks causing the problem in the first place accountable for their greed.

By most accounts, over $200 Billion in fines. Good job, Department of Justice, for wrangling justice from the miscreants, the greedy fat cat bankers who suck our life blood from us just so they can have a bigger yacht.

But disturbing news floated out of the shit storm. It seems as part of the deal, Justice made the suggestion to the banks that they could (this was later changed to "Would" when the success of the thing became apparent) "donate" up to 25% of the fines to select "approved" non profit agencies. Agencies on a list Justice had prepared in advance. Agencies that subscribe to the Democrats politics, and in fact contribute heavily to their campaigns. Organizations that can then, should they be so inclined, contribute to the political party of their choice, notably the Democratic party.

Now, here's the thing; Federal law says fines collected by the Government MUST GO TO THE TREASURY, with out delay or diversion. When braced with this fact, the justice department haughtily replied that they follow that particular law to the letter; when the fines are collected they indeed to go Treasury; until collected however .................

Left unsaid of course is that Treasury, unlike private organizations, does not contribute to any political party, at least not with tax payer money.

And lest some hot head make the case that this is just more Republican Hate Machine rhetoric designed to smear the innocent Democrats, let it be known that the Republicans probably are the ones who came up with the idea in the first place, and taught the Democrats how it works.

Now, Schutzie understands that some skullduggery can be expected with politicians and government operators, but damn it, this just pisses me off worse than them damn transgenders demanding to use whatever restroom has the shortest line at the moment.

Very simple.
1) Justice negotiates fines with the big banks over the housing market crash.
2) Justice works the deal so that the banks can "contribute" up to 25% of the fine to non profit organizations friendly to Democrats. Non Democrat organizations not included.
3) Instead of paying $200 Billion to the treasury, the banks pay $150 Billion, and "donate" $50 Billion to Democratic non profits.
4) Justice gets credit for penalizing greedy fat cats.
5) Greedy fat cats get to deduct "contributions" from taxes
6) Non profits favored by Democrats get big "donations"
7) Inference is that non profits in turn donate to Democrats.

In most simple terms, the vermin are stealing from the Government.

So which crackpot news report is alleging that somehow Wall Street fines are being funneled to the Democratic party?

Best I can tell it's a reference to Holder's 2014 BofA settlement. I could only find such partisan language on 2 sites, the Heritage Foundation and IBD (an investment scheme disguised as news). The forced "donations" to "democratic-leaning organizations" are rightfully titled Aid in common government documents. If people remember, subprime loans were largely targeted at poor Americans and that is what the aid was focused on. It specifically helped major cities across the country with larger political splits than IBD highlighted.

I am not aware that the Justice Department can't require aid as part of a settlement though it does appear that once $ hits the department it's supposed to go to the general fund. This money never went to the department.

Seems fine under the superficial details here and that I found. I had a family member forced out of their home during the crisis so it's good to see some settlement money going back to the demographics affected and taken advantage of.

Willing to read other details but no outrage here

Yes well put mattman ...Schutzie if it is as you say, then of course you're right.Something tells me your assertion will not hold up to fact based scrutiny and your source is likely some right-wing disinformation campaign.

Off to scrutinize it then.....
