BTW - The FBI says she is not under investigation.

What will be uber humorous is if Ted Stevens wins the Governors seat since the Justice Department has confessed to prosecutorial misconduct and Stevens' conviction was overturned. This is a very real possiblity because Ted is quite loved at home in Alaska.

There is no question that by resigning Palin is trying to set herself up for a presidential run. Republican governors with national aspirations have it hard right now because they a) want to criticize the stimulus package to gain points against a resurgent democratic party and b) also want to get as much stimulus money for their state as possible. I'm sure you can all see the potentially inconvenient PR problems that this could cause in three years and a bit.

Marky Mark tried to solve this problem by refusing to take stimulus money for South Carolina, which was ruled illegal by a federal court. He doesn't seem particularly interested in pushing that issue further right now, probably because he is busy recuperating from pointing a shotgun at his foot and pulling the trigger. Men will really stop at no ends to slay a little box. OR maybe it wasn't just about getting wet. Anybody read Marky Mark's love letters? After that I'm sure it was hard to convince his wife "it was only a physical thing".

I will not pass judgment without more facts. Just because the material came from the a certain building supply does not prove impropriety. If it can be shown that they paid less for the materials then they were worth, then there will be causality. Or if contractors also worked for free or at very reduced rates, there will be some proof. I am sure her situation will be investigated and if the house was built legit, we will find out. And when does the FBI or any agency acknowledge they are investigating you!

TT, how does getting elected for higher office so you resign your lower position, equate to quitting in mid-term with out a real reason cited? One is normal and the other just looks like the fire got to hot for her. Not exactly commander in chief material.

As I said- just a little of the juicy gossip floating around. I wonder why Todd has refused to name the "buddies" that helped him build the house?

So ya know - the IRS can investigate criminal acts too. Even embezzlement. Aside from that, she's still stalling on the release of her emails, even if she's downgraded the cost of retrieving emails from $15M to just $10,000 per request (now that the scrubbin's been done, no doubt). Not that they've released much of them - apparently they're having particular trouble with emails that copied her citizen husband on state business. Ask any IT guy how silly this is that they can't track emails to/from their system. So don't mind if I leave that bubble up there a little past the holiday weekend, before you go about bursting it. 'Course, maybe she's just hitting the Appalachian Trail~

But either way works for me, too - Best case, she's just a Quitter that's leaving her state hanging. Did you see her presser? Absolutely no sense of message control. Two hours notice for the media on the deadest part of the new cycle. Craziness. More fun to see her run as a presidential candidate, anyway - talk about your brutal GOP primary between this one and "pillar of morals" Gingrich. Everyone loves a train wreck.
