Is Cali going to legalize recreational weed? What do you think about that?
It's looking promising, but the scare campaign is in full force right now. I have family in the San Fran area and they are all going to vote yes (and none of them smoke it). Even my right-wing Christian mom has seen the light and agrees how idiotic it is to keep it illegal.
What will really be interesting to watch is how the Federal gov't reacts if Prop 19 passes. Will they try reverse the decision (which would force them take their fake democracy mask off and further reveal their inverted totalitarian nature that Sheldon Wolin wrote about
), or will the Fed step aside and let it happen?
Should recreational pot be legalized?
However, I think the question should be turned around.
It should be framed this way: Why should marijuana and Hemp be illegal in the first place?
The onus should be put on those who believe it should be kept illegal.
I have been observing a pattern throughout the years that those who think it should be illegal are the people who have never even smoked it. I mean, that's like a virgin trying to tell me that sex is a bad thing, ruins lives and feels horrible.
These same people love to use the stories of convicts who pass the blame off onto marijunana for all of their past problems as an excuse to keep it illegal. A few months ago I got to listen to some jackass tell a crowd that the reason he ended up as a heroin dealer and convict was because he started smoking pot when he was young. Gimme a break, bro. Don't blame the weed... blame yourself for being an idiot and not knowing your head from your ass. This argument is illogical because while most convicts and hard drug users have used weed, the amount of people who have smoked weed, but have never touched hard drugs or landed in jail, far far far out numbers (by a long shot) the people like the dude trying to tell people weed is bad.
At one point in my life I felt like a criminal for wanting to enjoy pot. That feeling has since past, and I now feel that those who wish to keep it illegal are the real criminals. I'm over being persecuted about this by a bunch of authoritarian assholes and their idiot minions who blindly follow them wherever they go.
I could go on and on about this... but it is probably best to stop here.
Btw... Good post, Mut.
