And the point of my original post in this thread was that, while I cannot agree with alot of what OWS stands for, I can agree with a good portion of it. Polls indicate that only a minority of people agree with OWS. If it was majority rule, as they want it, they loose. Forget the first amendment. However, polls also indicate that a majority of people are fed up with the current political system and agree we need fundamental changes to the current state of affairs. The point of my original post was that if we want to accomplish anything, the two strongest forces demanding change right now (OWS and the Tea Party) will have to find things they agree on and start there. If OWS, rather than demanding that the rich be taxed more, demanded that campaign finance laws be completely overhauled; and if the Tea Party, rather than demanding that federal spending be cut, demanded that campaign finance laws be completely overhauled, I would say there would be a good chance of enacting some real change and getting the government back to representing the people once again. Once the government is representing us again rather than corporate interests, we can work on our differences. Just because I don't support OWS does not mean that I don't care and just sit on the couch and complain. I have become more active including being a Ron Paul Distric Captain.

Actually, OWS is demanding both. OWS is a huge proponent for the ending of Corporate personhood, and ending corporate influence in the gov't. And within this same frame is their demand to create a tax system that is fairer - which means taxing the rich corporations. There are soooooo many things wrong right now, and this is why OWS doesn't just have a single demand.

But I agree... common ground needs to be found.

And, thanks for being an active citizen!!!

btw - I noticed you supported the austerity measures taking place throughout Europe.
Do you know about the LIBOR banking scandal?
Here is the latest update as of July 4.
Why is Nobody freaking out in the US?

A huge reason that these countries (and the US) are so fucked is because of straight up corruption and theft by a banking elite. It's not a conspiracy anymore, and the evidence is all coming out into the open. Now the same banking elite are using their political pawns to tell everybody that the workers and average Jane and Joes should pay for the crisis they created through their mafia style corruption racket. So, it's strange you would then look down on those who are against the austerity measures and who are telling these corrupt mafia assholes to go fuck themselves. You are kind of supporting these banking mafia assholes by agreeing that their prescribed medicine (austerity) to the disease they caused should be applied to the average people, and not them. "Thank you, sir. May I please have another?"... is the only phrase I can think of when I see somebody defending austerity right now.

The people of Iceland didn't just renege on their debt... they kicked out the corrupted politicians and arrested the predatory bankers. And, I applaud this with all my heart and wish upon the stars above that the people of this country wake up like they did and do the same thing.

I felt the same way at one point as the MSM made them look like Oliver asking for more and stated that they had no agenda. It appears to me that they were marginalized by the MSM and that we never really heard their message unless we dug for it. Very few of us did, including me in the beginning.

You just bottom posted. But if you must know... it was a satirical nod to your clear understanding of list etiquette. I'm sorry for offending your sensibilities in my effort to bring some light to a boating forum on a year where the water levels leave much to be desired.
