Putting the Iraq war cost in perspective

Does the graphic below come across?

Interesting. And the Iraq war has nothing to do with 9/11, except that Bush used 9/11 to justify the war.

"A nation that continues year after year to spend more money on military defense than on programs of social uplift is approaching spiritual death." ~MLK

Read MLK's entire speech here... http://www.hartford-hwp.com/archives/45a/058.html It is amazing how much his message still applies to the current situation in Iraq.

"The fact is that not everyone is losing in Iraq. Indeed, while the Bush administration's wars of choice have brought unnecessary death, destruction, and disaster to millions, including many from the Unites States, they have also brought fortunes and prosperity to war profiteers. At the heart of the reluctance to withdraw from Iraq lies the profiteers' unwillingness to give up further fortunes and spoils of war."

Possibly the biggest indignity of the profit being made from the war is that many of the people profiting are W's close buddies. Haliburton has made something like 10 billion off the war. Makes you wonder if Cheney is going to be ok when he leaves office. Other things that could benefit might be altenative fuel. I have a friend that work athe Renewable Energy Lab in Golden and she claims if they received one month of war spending they could probably find an efficient way of producing an alternative fuel source. Definitely makes you wonder why we are there. Profit, Oil, or WMD.

Forget alternative fuels... With $200 billion annually, couldn't we just hire Iraqis to carry us around?

I think if we just took one day of war spending we could put a still and outhouse at every put in and take out for all the nice boaters to keep themselves cleaned and lubed.
