Whoa. I was really glad to see that after they talked about the gross under funding of schools and neglect of our infrastructure that they acknowledged the issue of national debt. For a long time I've felt that the first thing we should take care of is the national debt. If we can do some moderate (temporary) tax hikes and spending cuts, we could get the debt down to a reasonable level. Economically, some debt is desirable so once we get it down to a manageable (and not rapidly increasing) level, we can start catching up on the deterioration of our numerous domestic issues. I've heard numbers that put the elimination of our debt in a reasonable time frame (some as low as 10-15 years). I say bite the bullet for a better tomorrow, but it's been a long time since any politician has openly tried to do anything about the debt because people elect politicians for what will be done for them and doing things costs money.

Great article, GH. Thank you for posting that. Even the comptroller general of the United States is loudly proclaiming that we are in trouble. http://www.usatoday.com/news/washing...ne-cover_x.htm

"Starving the Beast", they are.
Filling our homes with lies, they are.
Purposely dumbing down our children, they are.
Letting go of their power, they won't.
Afraid of an awakened mass of people, they are.
A hard fought Revolution, it will be.
A peaceful Revolution, it can be.
Awaken the mass of people, we must!

One of the concepts of the Cold War with Russia was that we outspent Russia and finally bankrupted them. I thought that was an interesting way to win. Applying that same idea to 911. Al Qaeda spent what 500k to implement their plan? We have spent about, this is just an estimate but I would guess we are approaching 500 billion between homeland security, Afghanistan and Iraq. Thats quite a gap in spending. No matter what your beliefs or politics are, it concerns me that Al Qaeda could be using our plan against the USSR to great affect against us.
