I wonder where china would fall on that graph. I saw a show on china a month or so ago on PBS and as I'm sure you know their economy is growing at an unprecedented rate. The number of cars on the road something like doubled in like five years. An infusion of capitalism is probably largely responsible...an almost infinite supply of labor as well. Still, godless heathens, all! We should invade them next and make them all Christian! Oh, wait, they'd totally kick our asses.

Double A & BSOE should start a morning talk radio show. No, really.

Medman -- I'm recruiting for this totally cool upcoming religion. No, not LDS, we have a little more tact than those backpack-wearin' door-to-door guilt trippers. You can learn all about it here: http://www.venganza.org It's every bit as reasonable as *your* religion, only more cutting edge & a little more lenient.

10 points to ToddG he figured out what religion I am. Maybe you guys could start a hate thread about that one specifically. Shouldn't be hard to find sites to link to. I've heard it all. Toted the backpack for two years so really has no effect.

Dude, sweet. I now feel like I, too, have been touched by his noodly appendage. And I'm wondering if the correllation between loss of pirates and rise in world mean temperature is causative. If some of us became pirates would the earth cool? I have so many questions for His custodians. Is there a priesthood of the FSM that I could consult? Will they rape my women and take my wallet?

medman,

first off, someone whom I count among my inner circle of closest friends is LDS. he taught me how to boat. he taught me how to snowboard. he cares enough about people and the environment to not vote republican. and he cares enough about his non-LDS friends to not preach at us.

we know you have all the answers. it's what you've been fed since childhood. and despite your functional intelligence and all that book larnin' you continue to swallow. fine with me. just leave me out of it. and above all, for God's sake, practice what you preach. if you're so into the Word..then give away your worldly possesions. start with your computer.

Elvis has left the building

Look again medman..... yes per person working and also.....GDP per person...not GNP....big difference!

please give me a theology leason! I grew up in a christian household. I studied at the grad level at U of Oregon on religion as a social movement under a man who is pro-religion and who i respect very much....in fact one of the smartest people I've ever met. I'm sure i know much more about your argument than you do. so please, feel free....

That sign forgets to mention that the ER will bill you and if you can't afford to pay it because your walmart job pays 8 bucks an hour and they dont want to pay for health insurance then you will be sent to collections/court/into bankrupcy.

So a solution that pleases both of us.....tax those motherfuckers who spend their money on SUVs instead of Health Insurance. Put there fricking priorities in order for them so that the system isn't supporting them when something does go wrong....its cheaper on the front end.

four generations of welfare....do you know some families like this? lets examine the problem....are they educated? no, because education funding is sunk. what are their job prospects? not much with rising unemployment and underemployment, no training, and jobs being liquidated overseas, no transferable skills. do you think limiting abortion rights will help or hurt this problem? do you think it helps or hurts the crime rate.....if only "they" all found religion....

we seem to agree that human agency (decisions) are what really matter, so where does talking to god fit in? does god talk to you? what does he say? I wish he talked to me....

"IT'S ILLEGAL TO DENY ANY MEDICAL SERVICE TO ANYONE WHETHER THEY ARE ABLE TO PAY OR NOT IN THE UNITED STATES"

Med-elder. Were you asleep in med school? Your statement above is not true. EMTALA (in short) mandates that any patient presenting to an ER must be medically screened and stabalized before being transfered to an accepting facitly. There is no law that says it is illegal to deny medical services to people.

As for you being LDS, thas no suprise. It explains your elitist attitude. The problem with your religion, and all others, is that it is exclusionary. If you don't belong to ________ religion and don't belive in ________ then you are wrong and will never be (pick one: saved, let into heaven, enjoy afterlife with lots of women, etc....). Another proble is hypocrasy, say one thing and do another. I always chuckle at the fact that black people were not allowed to be mormon until one of your prophets came down from somewhere and said that black people should be allowed in the church (which coincidentally was the same time race based discrimination became illegal). Don't worry medboy, other religions are no better. Lets take the catholic church, they say to love your neighbor. To priests that means stick your dick in some kids ass.
