It was a scandal involving Alabama NOT Tennessee. Phil Fulmer, Steve Spurrier, Houston Nutt, and Nick Saban all turned in the Tide for paying for players.
Fulmer was issued a subpoena July 24 during the Southeastern Conference’s media day to give testimony for a lawsuit from the booster Wendell Smith against the N.C.A.A. stemming from an Alabama recruiting scandal.
Smith sued the N.C.A.A. in 2003, alleging defamation and invasion of privacy that he said hurt his reputation and his career.
The N.C.A.A. put Alabama on probation in February 2001 for recruiting violations, including allegations that Smith provided $20,000, lodging and entertainment as an inducement to the prospect Kenny Smith. The Smiths are not related.
Onto other news, nice win by the Buffs. West VA looked like shit. The clock management at the end of the 4th was utterly terrible. What a disaster.

Casey Dick needs to work on his open field tackling!
What a great surprise to see the Tide cooking romping like that, in Fayetteville no less. Walked into the bar as Glen Coffee was running the length of the field for Bama's second TD halfway through the 1st quarter.
Can't say I envy the Hogs with their schedule for the next few weeks - all top-10 teams.
Next week things get real for the Tide - Bama at UGA. That said, hopefully the Dawgs will do to ASU what Bama did to the Hogs today.
Roll Tide!

49-14 - about what i expected. i skipped out on the 2nd half and went for a bike ride. i couldn't stand to watch any more of it, so i'm guessing that since bama only scored 14 in the 2nd half, saban put in some 2nd and 3rd teamers.
