All,
Our office is currently reviewing and studying the possible environmental impacts of a contract that involves moving a very small amount of water in and out of some Upper Akansas Valley lakes and reservoirs. They include: Rainbow, Cottonwood, and O'Haver lakes, and North Fork, Boss, and Deweese reservoirs.
The amounts of water to be exchanged from Pueblo Reservoir up to these bodies of water and then released are not very large, but for a couple days in the summer and early fall, there would be changes to water released from each of the dams. We want to make sure there are no significant impacts from those changes. We do not anticipate that these smaller cfs changes will have much, if any, impact once they finally reach the Arkansas.
To learn more, please visit a description of the contract on our website at

And, if you or any folks you know who frequent these areas believe there might be some significant impacts, please feel free to send me a written comment via e-mail, fax, or regular mail.
