Oooooh, Barracuda!

In July, when Alaska legislators started talking about conducting an investigation into "Troopergate," Sarah Palin denied any wrongdoing and said she welcomed an investigation. "Hold me accountable," she said.

The Legislature took her up on that offer. But last week, she basically told the Legislature, "Never mind."

If Caribou Barbie, America's Favorite Hockey Mom® is so enthralled with "open and transparent" government, then why is she stalling and throwing up legal blockades to this abuse of power investigation? Could it be that she was for transparency before she was against it?

Naughty Barracuda. Hypocritical Barracuda.

Hiding Palin from the Press

The McSame campaign is running scared with Caribou Barbie on the ticket, hiding her from the press and thus far "granting" one interview. <Wonder if Gibson had to kiss her ring, ala the Pope?>

The campaign is not being run for the benefit of the press," says Rich Galen, a Republican strategist with extensive political experience. "The campaign is being run for the benefit of the campaign, and when everything is going well, then there is no need to change from what has been working.
Uhm, so the campaign is NOT being run for the benefit of the American People? That's revealing. Guess we don't have the right to better understand this person The Campaign tells us is qualified to be first in the line of presidential succession. Guess we just gotta believe.

Please pass the Kool-Aid.

Spin baby, SPIN!

JUNEAU, Alaska - Five Republican state lawmakers filed suit Tuesday to end the bipartisan investigation into Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's firing of the public safety commissioner even though the vice presidential candidate once said she welcomed the probe into allegations of abuse of power.
Ooops. There goes "open and transparent" government.

On Tuesday, three state representatives and two state senators sued Democratic Sen. Hollis French, who is overseeing the investigation; Juneau Democratic Sen. Kim Elton, who heads the Legislative Council; independent investigator Steve Branchflower; and the Legislative Council itself.

The lawsuit seeks to either delay the investigation until after the Nov. 4 general election or remove French and Elton.

The Legislative Council, made up of four Democrats and eight Republicans, voted unanimously to investigate the circumstances of Monegan's dismissal. Although Monegan was an at-will employee who could be fired for almost any reason, lawmakers wanted to see whether Palin tried to use her office to settle a personal score with Wooten.
Hmm, so this bi-partisan group isn't capable of conducting the investigation that Palin herself asked for... before she joined the McCain ticket. Smells like the "Washington Politics" that Caribou Barbie and McSame claim to loathe.

McCain campaign spokeswoman Meg Stapleton denigrated Monegan at a news conference Monday, accusing the veteran law enforcement officer of "insubordination," "obstructionist conduct" and a "brazen refusal" to follow proper channels for requesting money.

When Monegan was fired, the governor offered to let him head the state Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. Asked why someone with a history of insubordination would be given such a position, Stapleton said that without having to deal with a budget, Monegan would be able to focus on alcohol abuse issues.

Uhm, sounds like Meg Stapleton has been abusing alcohol!
