You missed it, your loss. It was a great, hard-hitting speech.

Give me a break, but I guess the general public is awfully easy to impress these days.

Did they play the Hallelujah chorus in the background? Time should have used that for a multimedia aspect of that story. Better yet, audio of MLKJr.

lhowemt closed her mind a long time ago and does not want it "changed." she prefers the "old" evil to the new, younger evil that might actually turn out to be good.

Such defamation of a humble and ascetic group of people and way of life. But it is a commonly accepted definition, even though it is falsely negative, so I continue.

Sarcasm is stating the opposite of an intended meaning. I'm at least intending to be straightforward.

I believe most actions are truly sincere. I also believe Cheney/Bush know exactly what they are doing! Find me someone who isn't acting in some degree of self interest (not just money or recognition, but feelings of worth and contribution) and you'll be pointing at Gandhi or the Dalai Lama.

Sneering? Who sneers on a Friday?

Reality is tough.

Closed mind? You have NO idea. A few years ago I was a democrat, and drank the Kool-Aid too. Keep it up, it must be a good flavor now.

Cynicism is a nasty thang. I know. I'm guilty of it too, and wrestle with it all the time. I also tend to rationalize my cynical outbursts by saying, "Hey, I'm a 'realist' and those who don't share my view are suckers."

But that's just rationalizing.

This video clip just may be more than comedy. Or not. I guess it depends on how hard you hold onto your ideologies.

As for the speech...I'm gonna keep my opinions to myself on this one. Ive got too much homework to get into this debate.

You're missing the point. I'm no cynic, and I don't expect others to agree with me. Reason number 600 I'm not a republican - group think requirement. Once you see the elephant, it is actually quite relieving and heartening.

You use the term cynical in a socially acceptable way where it is used to put down those that aren't drinking Kool-Aid! Cynicism (read a bit of history and philosophy) is actually pretty darn admirable. So I should take it as a compliment, except I know it's not intended as one, and I am not a historic, nor modern, cynic. Just a straight shooter.

You can't pretend that rock/hole/pourover isn't there, why do so many try to pretend other things in life aren't there? Doesn't boating help us strip down all of those constructs that we put up to protect ourselves and our so-dearly held beliefs? Those hazards in the river are real. So are the hazards of getting baited into dems -vs- repubs. Don't look now, they're printing more money to give to the investment firms who blew their investments all the while getting HUGE salaries! Pretty good deal for them. WE are all going to have to pay that money back.

If you've read Schiff, you're well on your way. Follow the money.
