It was. I had some concerns about the "Barackopolis" set that was constructed, but the camera was tight on Obama damned near the whole speech and the silly set was hardly noticeable.

I'm really looking forward to the debates. Obama is gonna make McSame look like a bewildered, grumpy old man. And McSame's VP nominee? Biden will tap dance on his/her pointy little head. It's going to be fun!

Talk talk talk, I'd too like to know what kind of "change" Obama is talking about. blindly leaving something you don't like, without a direction, is dumber than staying in place.

What do you think, a quarter, a dime? How about "spare change"?

Helio- Do you read American Conservative at all?

I'd probably be a republican, if it weren't for the republicans. But that's also why I'm not a democrat. I'm just lost in the political ether, believing that all of those loons are the same, same money, same circles, same corporations.

How many elections have to pass before people realize there is ALWAYS someone talking about change? And then it doesn't happen?

How long until people realize we are being played for fools by fighting over dem -vs- repub while they all run off with the loot?

Skepticism is healthy, cynicism is not....

You misunderstand, I am not cynical. A person that looks at a white elephant and no longer ignores it, is not cynical, they are realistic. Choosing to not seeing the white elephant is delusional. Nothing will "change" until people quit drinking the Kool-Aid that makes them ignore the white elephant. You can't change when you don't even know where you are.

I find the selection of Palin to be fairly bizarre. If the idea was to steal some disgruntled Hillary supporters by naming a woman as Veep candidate, OK... except that she's "Pro Life." Hillary supporters are pretty pro-choice. And, her inexperience really dilutes the Republican charges of inexperience against Obama. To me, the main benefit she brings to the Republican ticket is she's not a geezer. Is that enough?

i've looked for the logic in this statement, but i can't find it. you're saying you'd rather stay in place, continue doing what you're doing, and be miserable doing it just because you know what's coming down the pike (even though you won't like it)? you wouldn't rather try something new, even though you might not know the exact outcome when you head down the new path, that might eventually make you happy and no longer miserable?

Talk is cheap, but with the value of the dollar it is getting more expensive!

Nope.

Remember it wasn't HIS speech, it was some speechwriter's speech, with carefully crafted and calculated statements, to sound oh so wonderful.

Weren't Bush's speeches after 911 so inspiring? Oh how I love a good speech!

Think hard. I'm saying that I am not going to blindly follow someone just because they say they will take us somewhere different. We already did that with Bush. Unfortunately, with elections, we don't get many options. The good thing is that it is not my choice to stay in place, and that is not what I'm saying we should do. I'm saying I'm done picking the lesser of those two evils, because it is a charade and what they say is a charade.
