I use "rowing," but who cares. I've heard snooty dory guides complain that a raft is not a boat and I've had vets comment that a 20mm round is not a rocket, therefore "rocket box" is incorrect. They are both correct, but I will continue to call a raft a "boat" and a 20mm can a "rocket box."

The original words are awesome even if they are outdated. Check out the original definition of Gymnasium. Think how much more fun P.E. would have been if everyone was naked!!

Definition for gymnasium - Oxford Dictionaries Online (World English)

When my daughter says "Daddy can I oar with you?". I say "why of course you can oar as much as you want." And if anyone tries to correct her or make her feel bad about her incorrect, dippy or obsolete language I would then Oar them right on out of my boat.

She was three when she started this and has nearly grown out of it now. Dammit anyway.

A daughter rowing with her daddy supersedes history, grammar and pretty much everything else.

I think I will use oar from now on, I know a river nazi that I will intentionally say it around to piss her off and after all the facts pulled out from way back in the day. Why not?

I just think it's funny when some uses "oaring", then makes fun of someone else for saying ya'll or having an accent Use "oaring" if you like...it does sound rather ridiculous but I'll try not to judge
