I come from Detroit Mi. guns have there places but on a river is not one. I can see taking a revolver called a "back packer" on a multi day trip, but from Pump to Rad I think a gun is bit much. The back packer is a 38cal 6 shot rev made by Torus. They are as safe as a gun can get and are made for wild life protection to carry in a pack while in the BC. I moved from Detroit 12 years ago to get away from the guns and gangs. LEAVE THE GUNS AT HOME. Unless you are in a multi day situation where you have a damn good need for one. Those are my thoughts.

Now see this is exactly my point and why we here at mtnbuzz are on a neverending search for the facts. I mean seriously if someone were to try to reenact this feat without the proper technique there could be serious injury or worse.
Somewhere out there is the answer and it has to be right on the tip of their tongue....
