Since I was born on the 50th anniversary of the day the war to end all wars ended (11-11-68 }, and since I'm a (arguably combat) veteran, I get to blow by the Memorial Day stuff because it's a given I adore my brothers in arms and all they did before, during, and will do after I'm here and gone. I remember and I care.
