Hey adrock give my thanks to your cousin, but how many of those Iraqi people were killed by there countrymen? Not sayin that I’m for the war but can’t blame everything on America

Stof, Of course there has to be spending on things like education, public works, fire, police, and military, and maybe a few more things, to ensure that we can go about our lives. But beyond that, IMO, I can't think of anything else. I am sure that there are plenty who are now going to tell me I am a heartless jackass. But yes, anything like welfare, social security, social services, medicare (ie. handouts and anything that contributes to government bureaucracy, and a welfare state), is a sunk cost.

start to end

tj - did we not start this war? and thus the blood shed is all really on our hands. This war has completely fragmented the middle east which is exactly what terrorists want, funny how our government has so much in common with terrorists. Also strange how all our media cares about is what we (the US) are 'losing and spending'. Our culture is so disconnected from other cultures that we have forgotten that most people in Iraq are just like us: Trying to live fulfilling lives, spend time with loved ones, and live, and die in peace.
