I'd pay good money to watch Al debate Lord Christopher Monckton. It'll never happen. Are you all keen to see that debate? Why Does does Al Gore refuse to debate his serious critics? Al is walking into an ambush when he agrees ONLY to debate Palin and no others. He's just stupid enough to do it.
Fascinating. To Sarah Palin the issue of climate change is also "settled". To her, we are witnessing mere cyclical climatic changes upon which human activity has had no impact. If she were to be so silly as to challenge Gore to a debate, and he were to agree, she would present her "case" and he would present his. Pretty sure that's how debate works.
So, are you saying that Palin is not one of Gore's "serious critics"? If so, I agree with you!
Lord Christopher Walter Monckton, the Third Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, does lend a certain air of tweedy nobility to the rabble of deniers. Despite the fact that he zero
scientific training (his higher education was journalism and classics), he's been called upon twice
by Republicans in Congress to testify before subcommittees as a climate "expert"
. Not because he is an expert, of course. Deniers don't need the consensus of scientists. They need British classics scholars who have cool titles. Uh, OK.
Interestingly, Lord Monckton has told two senators that he's a "member" (peer) of the House of Lords. Ooops, not true.
In a letter to Senator John McCain, The Monckster claimed to have been named a Nobel Peace Laureate for "correcting" the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was actually awarded the Nobel in 2007. Ooops, another lie! No Nobel for The Monckster.
Recently, Guardian reporter George Monbiot exposed Monckton for editing his own Wikipedia page to claim that he had been awarded an $80,000 libel settlement from the Guardian. Also a lie.
He's a bit of a bug-eyed freak as well.
I'd love to see Gore debate this blustering Brit... after he reduces the Prom Queen to tears.
