I know you were thinking handgun, but check out the Ruger 10/22 rifle. Cheap ammo, great gun, and you can shoot hi capacity magazines as fast as you can pull the trigger. They have lots of mods available. If you want it compact, you might be able to modify it with a folding stock, so it breaks down pretty small. People have even (probalby not legally) modified them into machine guns. Google "10/22 full auto" for some cool redneck You Tube vids.

The 10/22 is also cheap. Like under $200 at Sports Authority. Check it out.

Check out the Ruger charger. It is the pistol version of the 10/22. You can put a high capacity mag on it and blast thousands of cheap rounds into hampsters in a portable, compact manner.

Bring 'em down to Dgo, we've got some ADHD-can't-stop-mowing-down-trees beavers that need to meet up with their personal Jesus.

Ya Mike for sure we'll have to get out there one of these days. This weekend doesn't work so well for me. Working on saturday and going out and fishing and shooting with my boss on sun. Maybe sometime next week or something.

The .357 comes in a revolver so it is a much safer style of gun than a semiauto.
Gotta disagree with that. Are you talking the caliber or the revolver? Cause I consider the .357's ability to go through walls to be very unsafe for home defense. Also its loud and shoots out fire in every direction which will blind you if you shoot it at night. Now if you are saying carrying it for hunting and its safer I would disagree again considering that with an auto you can just leave the chamber empty and cycle a round when you need it.
