Gotta disagree with that. Are you talking the caliber or the revolver? Cause I consider the .357's ability to go through walls to be very unsafe for home defense. Also its loud and shoots out fire in every direction which will blind you if you shoot it at night. Now if you are saying carrying it for hunting and its safer I would disagree again considering that with an auto you can just leave the chamber empty and cycle a round when you need it.

Well both the round and just the revolver are safe. The round just comes down to what it is. There is a round out there I forget the name but out of a .44 mag it will not go through dry wall. If a person has a down jacet on the company says it will not go through. And shooting at night. It really aint that bad. I have shot my .44mag that has 6" barrel not that bad. I have done the same with my 6" .357 not a big deal. I shoot any of my compacts at night I am blind. And If you are ever carring a revolver you leave an empty chamber. So yes .357 is very safe as a round and as a revolver way more so that any semiauto hands down

Yes, it is safer to carry a revolver with the first chamber empty. However, the trigger is the safety on the revolver. Don't pull the trigger and the gun won't discharge. Why would anyone want to short themselves on capacity? I have a .357 with 7 in the wheel and have every chamber full. That way if some bear or kayaker gets out of line.... I'm ready!

Revolvers are the best hand gun for personal defense. Semi autos are the best for a more offensive approach like law enforcement. So for recreation shooting or personal defense a revolver is the best. My personal favorite is the .357. However, a friend once told me that if you really need to get someone's attention and you start waving a .44 around that will for sure do the trick. Haven't tried that but I think he has a point.

Anyway..... go out and start shooting.

What's nice about the .357 Revolver is that you can shoot .38 +P in it if you don't like getting your hand pounded.

Well I just disagree on all counts but if it makes you happy, run with it.

GH Explain why one hand gun is more or less dangerous than another. without proper training any gun can de deadly. quit bitching about which color is brighter.

my .38 special revolver in a holdster is just like having a semi auto with out a round in the chamber.

I believe perhaps the best camp handgun around is the Ruger Mark III (.22 caliber) auto loading rim fire. The Mark III is very simple to use, has three safeties (kids in mind), is cheap to shoot and for us guys who like to hit what we are aiming at this pistol is very accurate for what it is. They are fun to shoot and good fun for women and kids.

RUGER LINK

Or... if you have a Big "R" Store (aka Big Redneck ) they sell cheap Chinese .22 revolvers all the time in for like $99.99

Mike - I believe the correct slur would be: "bullshit, why would anybody buy no chink (or slope, slant) handgun or even a .22 handgun at that."

"Jap" is a racial slur referring to Japanese folks specifically.
