I highly recommend the book mentioned earlier about Glen and Bessie Hyde and their disapppearance in the Grand Canyon, it's called Sunk Without a Sound, I had to order it none of the local stores carry it.

Also Jon Krakauer (Into the Wild, Eiger Dreams, and Into Thin Air) wrote a very detailed book about the true story of the Mormons and how adding "fundamentalist" to your religious outlook can cause some major insanity. The book is called Under the Banner of Heaven - it was nuts!

Check out my book. It's got some influences from abbey and tom robbins to name a couple. It recently got a good review in the summit daily and I'm trying to get those of us who are mountain dreamers to help spread the word:
