I wonder what the PFD laws are in Colorado, or at least Clear Creek in Golden?
Not sure if this only applies to certain stretches of the platte, but on the C-470 to Union run, there are signs posted about PFDs being required. It's kind of a secluded stretch of river, so I can see why people don't get ticketed for being PFDless, but then at Union Chutes, there's always swimmers without PFDs, and don't even get me started on Confluence.
When push comes to shove, I'd rather have police handing out tickets to people without lifejackets in Golden PP water, than have them ban tubers/swimmers outright. I mean, having a train of tubers interrupt your kayaking is kind of annoying, but the whole situation behind the ban is icky and it makes me wonder if there's a law buried in the books about life jackets?
If there was, it would be rather appalling that they are ticketing dogs and Coors Light, while they turn a blind eye to dying swimmers they could have deterred through ticketing.
