God can't make Ted Haggard Straight

Alright, one of my main biases in life is an anti-militant-Christian bias. And I live in Colorado Springs as a declared member of "the rebellion". Me and Luke Skywalker, man!

Remember Ted Haggard, founding pastor of New Life Church, and his inability to keep men away from his penis? Well, it seems he's dropped out of heterosexual camp...
Joe. My. God.: Haggard Quits Re-Straightifying Program

Now, I wish Haggard well in his quest to accept whatever he is (and I don't know what he is). And I don't enjoy his personal suffering.

But what I do enjoy is the Religious Right having to deal with a subject they want to sweep under the rug (or worse - burn at the stake). It's way past time to recognize that gay rights are civil rights, and recognizing gay relationships as meaningful to the couples in them wil strengthen our culture and all relationships.

So deal with it Focus on the Family.

I honestly cant imagine what it would be like to want something all your life and then have to deny yourself that and then be vilified for it. It just pathetic that the place where he once found comfort is now offlimits to him because he is unfit for their love and comfort. New life? Judge not and ye shall not be judged. They musta rewritten the bible since I read it.

I saw about 20 minutes of that where the kids were putting their hands on a cutout of a Bush and praying for his Supreme Court nomination. Then they had the abortion guy talking for a while. It was one of the scarier things I have ever seen.

that was a really creepy part of the movie, and that's not even the worst part of the movie. if you can stomach it, you should watch the rest of it. very worth watching for a new eye-opening look into the way religious right....

You have to brainwash them by 8, because by 9, they're too smart for that shit. And Santa Claus. And Mr Hankey.

You'd be surprised. The other day I was conducting a discussion on racism in my 9th grade classroom (15 yr olds) concerning To Kill A Mockingbird. Someone of course brought up Obama and it was going well, and then another kid said, "Obama is an atheist." The whole room went silent. Since I recently switched districts, I didn't even realize how religious these kids are, until that moment. She might have well have said, Obama fucks babies after he kills them. I tried to diffuse the situation without being overtly biased, but they are definitely brainwashed.
