Free speech is for people who have money

Are you going to be influenced by all the coming advertisements? Really?

Mr. Adelson, a billionaire casino owner, has given at least $35 million to pro-Republican super PACs during the 2012 campaign, along with several hundred thousand dollars’ worth of $2,500 checks directly to federal candidates.

In the wake of court rulings and other actions that have largely deregulated the campaign finance system, wealthy donors and corporations are planning to pour hundreds of millions of dollars into this year’s presidential and Congressional elections, mostly in support of Republicans.

It has set off an arms race among Republican candidates for the allegiance of a small group of very rich donors. With a net worth of roughly $25 billion, Mr. Adelson is among the richest of all: In an interview with Forbes magazine this year, he suggested he would consider personally spending as much as $100 million on the 2012 elections.
Thank you Supreme Court. The 5 Republican appointees did their job.

Like I heard a prominent republicans say a few days ago, by being idiotic, the GOP has alienated a complete generation of people. It's only a matter of time before their demise as a party. Those who cling to the white robes of Grover Norquist and wealthy bribers will eventually face their demise of political power. Everyone but close-minded old, white folks has had enough!!

as opposed to Soro's, etc....

The rich buy their way and manipulate the system to their own means. Obama is as beholden to Wall Street as Romney. It is a fundamental flaw with the system. To blame the court, which is probably the most honest part of our system, is crap. I don't comment over here ever, but to say the dems or the repubs are not beholden to the dollar is crazy. I bought into Obama's dialoged and then saw him save AIG and orchestrate the recapitalization of banks that worked hand and hand with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to pull us into our current state. We the people are still where we were when Obama came in. Unions and Banks have been recapitalized while my kids have been burdened with incredible debt. But you’re right, rich control the Republicans. The thing is they control the Dems too...

Is there corruption by money of both parties, yes. I just like the Obama corruption better than the Romney corruption.

Move To Amend

We the People, Not We the Corporations | Move to Amend

Move To Amend is a grassroots movement to amend the Constitution to overrule the Supreme Court's awful Citizen's United decision. An amendment is a long shot, but it's the best way to fix this blunder by SCOTUS--there's only so much you can do with legislation, and this court will not overturn this ruling.

Their amendment:

Section 1 [A corporation is not a person and can be regulated]

The rights protected by the Constitution of the United States are the rights of natural persons only.

Artificial entities, such as corporations, limited liability companies, and other entities, established by the laws of any State, the United States, or any foreign state shall have no rights under this Constitution and are subject to regulation by the People, through Federal, State, or local law.

The privileges of artificial entities shall be determined by the People, through Federal, State, or local law, and shall not be construed to be inherent or inalienable.

Section 2 [Money is not speech and can be regulated]

Federal, State and local government shall regulate, limit, or prohibit contributions and expenditures, including a candidate’s own contributions and expenditures, for the purpose of influencing in any way the election of any candidate for public office or any ballot measure.

Federal, State and local government shall require that any permissible contributions and expenditures be publicly disclosed.

The judiciary shall not construe the spending of money to influence elections to be speech under the First Amendment.

Section 3

Nothing contained in this amendment shall be construed to abridge the freedom of the press.
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied...learn to swim!

In case you heard about the review that congress gave JPMorgan chief the other day and the very soft approach they took with him, this is the reason why.

The way our political system works now is that you can only get elected if you are corrupt.... Bought and paid for.. We have a system where our lawmakers, representatives have to spend most of their time making promises and begging for money from the rich and corporations, rather than doping the job they were voted in for. Repealing "Citizens United" just isnt enough to turn around the entrenched corruption that is in our political system.

How bout this.
1) ban campaign contributions and super pacs. (or reduce camaign contributions down to $500 or less from natural citizens)

2) Replace campaign funding with a fixed amount for each nominee that gets enough preliminary votes to be eligible to run.
THen we would be able to tell who can really manage a budget and they would be able to spend their time actually running the country and figuring out what is best for the american people instead of whoring themselves out to the highest bidder.

If a politician is found to be guilty of accepting bribes from a corporation for favorable legeslation then they should be charged with treason, and executed publically.

Problem solved!

The government is not flawed. It is working just as it was designed to! This IS what our founding fathers wanted. A Rebublic where the majority(the poor) can't disenfranchise the minority(the rich). Also where the government(or king) can't take the wealth of the rich. Also, corperations are not scewing America, people are scewing America. We each own a small piece of the problem and collectively its a big issue. We are turely a country where people are divided at every level of consiousness, and divided we fall. With that said, Its time to hit the river.

True enough. The founding fathers were rich so they certainly wouldnt create something that put them at a disadvantage.
