Both parties have been co-opted by corporate interests and their integrity undermined by the money needed to win elections. The difference is one side embraces corporate greed as a philosophy, the other knows it's wrong but lacks the backbone to change it.Examples of conservative arguments that amount to embracing greed as a philosophy are;money is speech , corporate personhood, against regulations and oversight, opposition to capital gains taxes and progressive taxation, conflation of average Joe's* taxes with those of the wealthy, intellectual property rights ,and on and on.

Competency is one thing, but needs to come with integrity. Cheney was pretty competent at making things happen, but it didn't make him a good politician.
The IMF is an arm of the UN. IMF's voting powers are assigned to countries based on the size of that countries economy. The IMF has been accused of providing preferential treatment to those on the UN security council. The UN sits on a solid premise, that is unless you are an African nation. The UN has also sold itself to the banks, and special interests. If the UN truly was out to help humanity much more progress would have been made in Darfur, Rwanda, Sierra Leonne, etc..... This topic is better slated for it's whole own forum.
Both political are full of corruption. The Republicans protect the large corporations. The Democrats speak out against this and promise a better life for the working class if corporations are taxed more. Neither party is entirely right. The dems have been a huge proponent of capital gains and inheritance tax of 30+%.
I have had a small stock portfolio for a couple years, nothing huge, but it sure sucks that if I make $1000 this year investing my money in an american company I will pay $300-$350 in taxes, that makes my rate of return drop significantly. I dont mind paying income tax on these investments when they do well. What I do mind is that I am far from rich, and basically gamble MY money, when I get a return I would have pay a bunch back, but if I loose I get a write off. I could have done like many other americans and spent my investment money on TVs, vacations, eating out,etc... but I was responsible and get taxed for planning for retirement and emergencies. What about someone that inherits the family business, farm, ranch etc....? That business may be valued at over a million dollars, but then to be expected to pay 35% of it because your family has worked 2 or more generations just so the government can ask for 1/3? Not right in my mind.
Conversely, I think that corporations don't need 'personhood' that is entirely wrong. I also dont think the government has ANY business in determining salaries for executives. If the American public doesn't like the AIG bonus given out then don't do business with AIG, or companies using their financing products. I am not one to scream Socialism, but government control of salaries is pretty close to that term. I cant fathom making 100 million a year for running a company, but If I was responsible for a company worth billions then I would expect a healthy check. I dont mind rich people, that is how it is. They drink champagne and eat caviar on their Gulfstream IV I eat PBJ and drink Old Crow on my raft. I am having just as much fun.
What it all boils down to is the 2 party system.
As a person that is pro choice, pro gun, environmentally minded, and likes a rare steak there is no party I feel associated with. Yet I am pretty much forced to vote for a D or R.
Someone mentioned the Alex Jones's production "The Obama Deception" I have seen this and many other Alex Jones films. I cant really agree with his apocalyptic view of the world, but there is some truth many things. I was happy to see the Obama deception wasn't so much anti Obama or pro Republican, but just critical of politics in general.
Now we have both political parties blaming the other for the things that were said by the 'cheerleaders'. I know many registered republicans that are disgusted by Rush, Beck, Coulter, etc..... I also know people that think that it should be legal yo throw Rush Beck and Coulter in jail. That is a real scary idea on how people think. Now it is easy for many to dismiss disparaging comments about our president as racial drivel. The democratic talking heads LOVE to portray every memeber of the republican party as a rascist, hate filled, bible beating, gun toting, ignoramus. Rush will tell you just as ugly things about democrats. In the end all that is happening is there is a schoolyard name calling contest all while OUR government renews the patriot act, takes ownership of private corporations, and sells itself out to Wall Street and corporate lobbyists.
Obama was groomed to be the POTUS, he beat out several people with way MORE experience (Richardson, Gravel, Kucinich, etc). Instead for whatever reason he got enough media and money to become the president. Same thing happened with Bush, he was bought and paid for years before. As much as I hated Sarah Palin, it was refreshing to see a fairly normal (loose term) person even be considered. How many politicians in DC come from normal roots? Not the Bushs, Rockefellars, or the Kennedys. We have a majority of career politicians that really have no idea how most Americans live, and therefore cant relate or vote and act in their best interests.
I encourage anyone to research these 5 things, its all easy to find and wont take you a long time
Council on Foreign Relations
Tri Lateral Commission
keep a note of who is or has been a member of these groups, and then research White House Cabinet positions over the past 25 years cross checking you list. It's easy to see a link to global banking and EACH political party.
