Dog sprayed by skunk

So my poor little river dog got sprayed by a skunk past night. I've shampooed the hell out of her but the smell lingers. Any suggestion on how to get rid of the stench?

Also, any suggestions on how to get payback on that skunk?

Ha, that is pretty funny! Back in Arkansas and paddled with Scott and Renee at the Surf-n-turf at rockport. Did you ever ride the Ramp-o-death?

You can pm Bobbuilds...His dog has gotten sprayed a few times. Or just google it.

Tomato juice, something about the acid in it neutralizes the skunk. Your dog will have a bit of a red tint to their fur but it wears off or you can shampoo them again. Use a bunch of it and soak em.

I use hydrogen peroxide, baking soda and dog shampoo. Works great.

Our recipe calls for
1 qt hydrogen peroxide
1/4 cup baking soda
2 tbs dish soap
Put on and let soak for 20 min.
Thankfully, we've never had to use it, but the neighbors have.

That sounds like a lot of peroxide. Hydrogen peroxide is a pretty strong oxidizer. I would suggest a recipe more like
1/2 cup peroxide
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup shampoo
mixed into 1 quart water. No need to let it soak, it reacts fast. Work up a good lather in the coat and rinse. Important to rinse it out well.

Oh, I have used it on several occasions. It works and no problems with the dogs coat or skin. Rinse well!

Start a fire after gathering a bunch of wet leaves, pine branches, wet grass, or foliage. Once the fire gets goin put all the wet leaves, foliage, and green pine branches on the fire - this will cause a bunch of smoke.

Make sure the smoke is not too hot (or dont roast your dog) then when it starts to come off real good.. Hang your dog upside down with 2 people and swing the dog or pass it over smoke as thick as you can get it - not once or twice but a bunch..

Repeat that a few times until the dog smells like total a total smoked shit bomb.. Let the dog chill for a bit then wash it all out with the commercial skunk be gone or one of the above do it yourself mixes.

I t works.

Shit Hot, I want, no I need video of that. I just pissed my pants and that has not happened in a long time. Love it, hope it works.
I bet that dog will never go near a skunk again after that treatment.

I had my dog swim from Pumphouse to Rancho minus the "Eye" and Yarmony. That got rid of most of the smell. Of course, he had many breaks during his swim. Call in sick tomorrow and go rafting for the good of the dog!
