Does your dog...

Does your dog spaz out after playing in the water? My Bearded Collie after splashing around in the pond or the river goes from a "happy go lucky" pup into a hyper active racing machine. She runs up and down the bank, spins in circles and tears around like her tail is on fire.

Do any of the buzzard dogs act like this?

Mine did when they were younger, as well. They have a genetic condition known as "Labrador Retriever".

They also got "cold tail/swimmer's tail" pretty badly and would sleep for days after a long weekend on the water.

My German Shepard gets so worked up that he cant walk for days and needs rimadyl to get back to walking. If you had a fur coat maybe you would get excited as well if you were able to play, drink and stay cool at the same time.

Kinda like when I go to sea level and just want to run and run and run because I can with all the extra oxygen. I think you're onto something there gh

I ask mostly because my dog is no longer a "young pup" she is a solid adult at 4 years now.

Axe is 10 and a big dog. He is eat up with arthritis and we try to slow him down cause we know he will pay for it the next few days and I will probably have to help him up stairs but he still does it and he is so happy its hard not to let him.

It's calling "getting the zoomies". The dog can be happy, or just cold and wants to warm up.

Have you tried children's chewable aspirin for the arthritis on big play days?
Have you tried glucosamine?

Our 13yo chocolate lab gets glucosamine twice a day with meals, and it seems to help her a lot, especially climbing stairs/getting up/down.
