I see this thread exploded. I haven't read any of the replies, and don't really have the time to. I'm guessing there has been some flame wars interspersed throughout, mixed with some good conversation here and there. Outlaw, I do want to apologize for being a condescending asshole, but I stand by my stance on the US Empire.
Just wanted to add an interview from Colonel Larry Wilkerson that is a must watch. I am in the middle of a research project right now that is dealing with Empire and US militarism, and this interview with him was unbelievably enlightening to watch. There is nothing better than to here a very respected and accomplished military man, not only confirm what I knew about the US Empire, but add such an incredible insider's perspective into the mindset of what is happening at the highest levels of office.
The interview is an 8 part series (about 10 minutes each) and is so worth the time to watch. People like Wilkerson are the folks we need to be listening to right now if we want to have a chance to take back this country from the corporate/financial/MIC usurpers, and return it to the rule of law and the people.
Part 3 "Decline of the Empire" particularly stands out in my defense of the US as being an Empire, and how the foundations of the Republic are in dire jeopardy of being no more. The Golden Nugget starts at the 7:40 minute mark. http://therealnews.com/t2/index.php?...4&jumival=6872
