That's great to see a story like that printed in the Army Times.

But, I think they should be putting the onus where it belongs. I still can't believe people don't remember, haven't heard, or choose to ignore that Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld lied to Congress and the America public to get approval for this invasion in the first place. IT'S PROVEN WITH COLD HARD FACTS!! Sure, Rumsfeld sucks as Secretary of Defense, but the American military shouldn't have gone to Iraq in the first place!

Click the link below to see the evidence. To all the doubters, wishful thinkers, conservatives or whoever else in complete denial... f*&king read it before you make any lame ass comments. If I read one stupid remark about "conspiracy" or something like, "oh you wacky, liberals" First, I am going to kindly ask you to prove that this evidence is false. When you can't do that, I am then going to start calling you the words you deserve to be called. Jebuz Christ, this document gives the citizens of America the evidence for impeachment, and not to mention the evidence to send these war criminals to jail. And, if I am not mistaken we still are a Democracy - just barely - so yes, the American people can do something about it.

First read this letter written by Senator John Conyers... http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/080406R.shtml
Quote:
Approximately 26 laws and regulations may have been violated by this Administration's misconduct.
HE PROVES THE ABOVE QUOTE AND MORE IN THIS DOCUMENT It is a PDF file. http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/do...inalreport.pdf

So, YES, let's bring our troops home.

Saddam was just found guilty and sentenced to hang. To those of you ten thousand miles away that means different things...to me it means that I should avoid going outside for a while to avoid getting hit in the head with mortars/rockets from pissed off sunnis or celebratory fire from the nearby shi'a slum sadr city.

Why is this protest not until March? Do you know how many more GIs will be killed between now and then? I want to come home now...let's get the ball rolling with this shit, huh?

Oh and I think the grade school policy of ignoring pests until they get bored and go bother someone else would probably work on cock bobber. If no one ever replies to him he is likely to seek a different audience. Be the bigger person, ignore his trolls and dim whitted insults, and he will move on. This, too, shall pass.

And adrock, although phillosophically I am sympathetic to your view (for the most part...your take on cancer is kind of crazy) when you conduct yourself like as ass you only flux power toward the cock bobbers of this world. Try a qualude...they're delicious.

Mark,

All of your proof revolves around the so called Downing Street Memo - which was presumed to be authentic when the left began touting it as evidence the president committed impeachable crimes. It’s actually a manually recreated copy - with the source of the memo now admitting he retyped the document before destroying the originals. The memo simply contains the impressions of an aide of the impressions of British-cabinet officials of the impressions of unnamed people they spoke to in the United States about what they thought the president was thinking. British reporter Michael Smith, who broke the memo story in the London Times, revealed to the Associated Press "he protected the identity of the source he had obtained the documents from by typing copies of them on plain paper and destroying the originals."

Smith's admission means there's now no independent way to determine the accuracy of the Downing Street Memo, i.e., whether he made any typos or transcription errors that could have changed the memo's meaning. The revelation has conjures up memories of the CBS News forged document scandal from the 2004 presidential election. It is sad when hearsay raises this kind of ruckus and, in court, one is not required to proof accusations are false, (as you’ve requested), the onus is on accuser to prove they’re true. As smoking guns go, this one is not high caliber no matter how many websites the left sets up to try to prove otherwise.

For the record, I was opposed to going to war in 2003 but not because there wasn’t sufficient justification. I felt the American public wouldn’t have the stomach for their soldiers coming home in body bags from a war with a country that wasn’t directly threatening us. That being said, I don’t think pulling out now is good idea. First, it sets a bad president and second, it leaves us at least partially responsible for the inevitable blood bath to follow.

I hope you had a good run yesterday and were able to forget about politics for a while.

boatnbike- Thanks, I did have fun...sorta. It was cold, pushy, fast and I flailed my lines, but I was still stoked to be kayaking. The Northwest is quite a different type of kayaking...lotsa water.

Well the only thing, I think, you have done is read maybe 2 or 3 articles - that probably slant right - to tell you why the downing street memos should be questioned. I don't think you have actually read the document. Because if you did you would then see the other piles of evidence that go way beyond just the downing street memos. So, try and read the mountains of evidence that shows the Bush regime misled the people of the world. Seriously.

I edited and deleted the rest of my post. I'm done. Bye!

bnb, dude, we're responsible for the bloodbath that is happening NOW. The last AP estimate I heard on the number of Iraqis that die in Baghdad daily was around 30. Over a year, that's a lot of people. If we were to leave there would be a lot of people killed in a concerted effort and then maybe the region could sustain a relative stability.

So, how long would you have Americans in Iraq? Indefinately? We're talking about groups of people who will not reconcile living in a county with arbitrary borders drawn up by the Brits early last century. How many American lives will it take before the people are just fed up, because we're not going to come out of this without egg on our faces, I can guarantee that much. What you don't realize is that we can pull out now or we can pull out later with the same results, the difference is a)the longer we stay here the more Arabs go loco enough to blow themselves up just to take a few of us with and b)the longer we stay here the more teenagers from rural America end up in Arlington.

You’ll get no argument from me on this point. I think the general public is lazy and is not willing to take the time to learn the facts about issues unless it directly affects them. I also believe that, to some degree, the media is to blame. They have a tendency to sensationalize news and events to increase ratings or circulation and spin their coverage (both left and right), which makes it difficult to get an unbiased story.

As for the Downing Street Memo, you’re right, I haven’t read the whole thing. But it’s not because I think it’s a pack of lies, it’s because there too much uncertainty regarding it to take it seriously. If, as you say, it gives “America the evidence for impeachment” don’t you think more would have been made of it by now? I don’t believe its just coincidence John Conyers is trotting out his letter just before the elections and well after the Downing Street Memo’s emergence. I predict his efforts will die a quick death soon after Election Day.

Call me naïve, but, yes, I do believe Bush has the American peoples’ best interest in mind. I also believe the Clinton administration did, too. I really don’t think any administration has made policy for their own gain. That’s not to say that they haven’t made mistakes or that I blindly follow along, nodding my head to everything Bush says. Because of 911, he was forced to make difficult decisions and history may prove he made the wrong ones but I do believe he did what he thought was in America’s best interest. As for Lebanon and Israel, it’s a stretch to say we “allowed” Israel to attack Lebanon. They did it for, what they felt, was their own best interest and you failed to mention any part Hezbollah played which was pretty significant.

To answer you last question, no, I don’t think many people are learning much from these posts. I doubt there are more than a handful of people reading them and they already have their minds made up. I will say I admire your passion and dedication to your causes (even though I disagree with some and feel you’re misguided).

BSOE,
It would be pretty ludicrous for me to sit here in Colorado, on the comfort of my couch and pretend I know better than you what our country’s best course of action should be in Iraq. It’s a f__ked up situation and probably will remain one for some time. Whether we pull out now or later, I think it’s a situation that will trouble us for years to come. I do think, though, we have the moral responsibility to establish some semblance of order and, while that will undoubtedly cost young men’s lives, it may save others in the future. Take solace that, as bad as things are there, at least you’re not Ted Haggard! Be safe and made it back!

Oh please! I am open minded. I am willing to admit my mistakes. I have a strong desire to learn. I embrace change. I don't hold onto grudges or hate. I treat people with respect. I work daily to increase my compassion and understanding for people. I respect my environment. I have integrity. Each day that I learn something new, I realize I still don't know shit... and I expect that to continue the rest of my life.

Is that your defintion of misguided? You know nothing of me or who I am. Please, get off your righteous self.

Over and out, brother. I am done communicating with you. You are one thick-headed arrogant dude, and I don't need to waste my time with that.

And, just so people aren't confused I pulled half my post before the thick-headed arrogant republican dude posted his. I deleted my little rant about the hypocrisy of Bush and his horrible foreign policy. I can reproduce it if people want. I came to the realization that this mtn buzz political shit is a waste of my time.

Dear open minded, respectful, compassionate and understanding dude,

Please accept my apology for having a different opinion than you. I didn't realize feeling you were misguided was such an insult. In fact, I thought that you probably considered me misguided.

Sincerley,
Thick-headed, arrogant dude
