Why would my Athiests friends be in favor of "sin taxes"
Sin is a foundational concept of most world religions, but beliefs vary about what is a sin and how sinners should be treated. It seems that "sin taxes" create a moral dilemma for state governments; They are put in the position of condemning certain behaviors of their choosing
while also expecting
people to continue those behaviors because the state needs tax money.
Just review the results of the tobacco settlements. Where did the 214 billion dollars go? Health care?
