IkayakNboard - it looks like you live in Denver. If that's true, then the Denver County public trustee controls the foreclosure process. Check their website for resources. If you engage some investor, don't sign anything before a real estate attorney reviews. The state is changing the foreclosure process which will eliminate the 75 day right of redemption which doesn't appear to matter in this case but there may be other changes as well, not sure. As for the sewer, I have a house built in 1949. The sewer backed up and it was roto routered about 4 years ago and it is still good to this day - it was tree roots and cost about $125. Mthurman had great advice about sewer repair. Don't do foreclosure, there are ways to solve this problem.
Now to the rant,
I just want to visit part of the mental equation here....I have no sympathies for those people that constantly pull equity out of their home to pay for a lifestyle they can't afford, so I hope that's not applicable to IkayakNboard. If it is, well, it is a lesson learned, that's for sure. I hate those lessons learned where somebody could say "I told you so." Listen to those with wisdom, just my advice. Oh, and don't mortgage your house and life to pay for BS possessions.
As for the hijack by Basil....quick Basil, throw yourself a rope and save you from yourself as it is no one's responsibility but yours, same as on the river. Get out of that terminal meltdown you're in or you will be forever bitter and a social drag at my expense(and others). My social therapy prescription to you is: Read Ayn Rand, We The Living(300pgs), Atlas Shrugged(1000+pgs) and The Fountainhead(1000+pgs), these should give you perspective on communism(which Ayn Rand escaped) and individualism(which you need). Then read some of the other great philosophers(Lao Tsu, Plato, too many to list). Al Franken's "daily affirmations of an idiot" doesn't count. Get perspective and get balance. Realize that life is a struggle, it isn't fair, some folks may have more money but it doesn't make them better or happier, neither does wealth distribution. The only thing your suggestion does is create mediocracy and complacency in a society and then someday someone that wants to rewrite the rules will come and takeover for those sheeple that can no longer function on their own. Now, if you are humble you will reply back to this thread and accept your inepitude in the ways of the world and forge forward, taking what you claim as yours and aspiring to something you believe in. If not, move to Cuba, China, or the Middle East for perspective and adventure. But please, shut the hell up about life being unfair, as most of us already know that and we like the challenge!
