Theo my friend. Clinton DID get the people responsible for World Trade Center I. Ramzi Yousef is in prison at Supermax to this day. At the time of the Khobar towers attack, the principle suspect was interestingly enough, actually Iran. Even in hindsight, the 9/11 comission only stated that Bin Laden "may" have been involved, neglecting to say anything definite. As for the others, nobody even knew who Bin Laden was
until the African Embassy attacks. Clinton's response to the African embassy attacks was pretty clear and immediate. Remember the cruise missles? He missed killing Bin Laden and most of the upper echelon Al-Qaida leaders by mere minutes. He also actually handed Bush plans that he drew up to invade Afghanistan, but these were discarded. Clinton even explored sending special forces into Afghanistan to hunt down and kill Bin Laden, but Pakistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgistan (am I spelling this right?) refused to let the U.S. have basing rights because "Clinton's waco burning FBI" wouldn't officially certify that Bin Laden was the person responsible for the Embassy Attacks. In other words, I agree with Mr. DurangoSteve.
You're right. I shouldn't be laying all
the culpability for the disasters of the last eight years at Bush's feet. He was however, a major, major player in creating all the bad shit that has happened. Actually Bush's dissapproval
rating at the end of his term was 70%. I wonder if anybody will have the stones to prossecute him. Will he get secret service protection in Leavenworth?
I really can't assign him great credit for the surge since the real success in violence reduction in Iraq was due to the Sunni Awakening Councils. Al Qaida in Iraq just go too violent and alienated its base. The surge might have helped that happen, but thats ambiguous. Even if it did work, he doesn't deserve any brownie points for it since he did START the war. Saddam didn't pose a threat to us in any way, but Bush decided to go against the war doctrine that his own secretary of state drafted (Powell Doctrine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
) and invade. The world said no, Colin Powell told him its a bad idea, but he decided "lets go smoke 'em out." What a fucking moron.
