If we reduce consumption by one barrel per car a mounth, that is 12 barrels a year. 12X 100 million cars = 1.6 billion barrels of crude oil a year saved or at 100$ a barrel that would be 160 billion dollars also saved. That is a very significance savings in crude oil and fossil fuel pollution. Know, I can start to formulate a plan to save that 0ne barrel a month. Thanks for the information.
1.2 x 100 million cars=120 million barrels of crude oil. 120 billion dollars. Sorry for the math error.

That should be 12 billion dollars, not 120 billion.

Lets try this again. 12 barrels a year per car X 100,000,000 cars = 1,200,000,000 barrels of crude oil. 1,200,000,000 berrels X 100$ = 120,000,000,000$. Which is 120 billon dollars. Thanks

Well you can do all the math you can...all day long. Crunch the import/export data, fantasize about some magic cure all car..

I will quickly, quietly, and above all; efficiently ride my bike.

Two points
1. I have paid for all my bike maintenance with the aluminum and other road debris that is otherwise squandered for the past decade.
Never have I ever met someone in a car that could say the same things about their mode of transport.

2. I actually meet the people who own the land that I pass through on a daily basis.

A quick "hello" or "do you mind if I pick up all these cans in your lovely ditch" for example does much more towards a healthy and sustainable society than say the banshee wail of improperly inflated tires on a Cadillac SUV going 55mph 2 feet from your mail box as you try to get the paper...

But hey its what I do and I understand that riding a bike to work "is too much "work" just to get to work" for the masses and is not for everyone. To them I say "Oh so your unhappy, fat, lazy, sex deprived, and above all ignorant of your surroundings?

I drive my SUV just to check the mail. I throw cans just so people will pick them up. I load up the bike on the SUV so folks will think I ride a bike, when they ask I tell''em'' the truth.

I am alittle heavy, only lazy on mondays, allways horney, West VA. is better (land of lovers).
