I understand what you're saying...and it does make sense. I don't come on here and pretend to know near as much about politics and policies as many of you. Perhaps my responses seem very elementary to most of you (helio...you implied I was stupid....unless I misread).

I just see a fundemental lack of knowledge in economics. Hence my comment that basically "people are dumb". Furthermore.....that people have lost the desire to make this country better, to work, and to exceed. Just seems that most are looking for a "solution"....created only by those in government.

All I'm saying is that I'm tired of government trying to decide what's best for the population. All I have seen is decades of failure...from both parties...from all.

So, back to my original question.......how do you inspire people from ALL socioeconomic levels to better themselves and this country??? You can't, greed and selfishness dominate.......

GT: you misread. I don't think you're dumb and did not mean to imply you are.

My comment "It's the derivitives, stupid" was a re-write of the famous 1992 Clinton campaign meme "It's the economy, stupid."

There were many things stressed in our economic system over the last 10 to 15 years. Derivitives of credit and mortgage backed securities became the gasoline in a sparking room.

"self-aggrandizing jackass" - it says it right on the label

If it's the derivitives shouldn't we just be able to integrate a solution?
